About the Joseph H. Kanter Prize

The Joseph H. Kanter Prize rewards a physician for work in equalizing the delivery of health care. . The award is named for Joseph H. Kanter, a pioneering health care reform advocate, and sponsored by the Health Legacy Partnership (HELP) . The award carries with it national recognition and a $100,000 cash prize.

The goals of the Kanter Prize are threefold:

• Contribute to uncovering solutions for health care disparities due to race and/or ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religious beliefs, gender, sexual identity, language, education, bias, geographic constraints, etc.

• Discover innovative ideas to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare, promote their broader usage, and to improve health outcomes where there is scientific evidence of effectiveness and professional consensus.

• Recognize and celebrate the talent, dedication, and creativity of a physician and elevate them to the distinguished ranks of professional prize winners. The achievement of the Kanter Prize recipients will exemplify healthcare values and compassion and inspire our next generation of physicians.
